Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using Interlude.

Last updated: September 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Interlude (the "Service"), operated by Interlude ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Description of Service

Interlude is a mood and wellness tracking application that allows you to:

  • Record daily emotional check-ins using the PANAS (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule) framework
  • Write structured journal entries
  • View trends, patterns, and insights about your emotional well-being
  • Connect health devices to correlate physical data with mood
  • Share check-in summaries with trusted buddies
  • Receive AI-powered insights and reflections

Interlude is a self-awareness tool. It is not a medical device, therapy service, or substitute for professional mental health care.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By using Interlude, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You may not create accounts through automated means or use another person's account without permission.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Upload malicious content, spam, or harmful material
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service
  • Impersonate another person or entity

6. Subscriptions & Payments

Mood tracking and journaling cost $5 per month on their own, billed monthly through Stripe. Access is free for as long as you are working with a coach on Interlude, under the coach-sponsored terms below.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not affect active billing periods.

Free access: coaches and their clients

Coaches do not pay a subscription for their own use of Interlude once they are working with a client. Accepting your first client grants twelve months of free access to mood tracking, journaling and insights, renewed on the same terms as below, and funded by the commission on your coaching sessions. Being approved as a coach does not by itself grant free access — the coaching relationship it is funded by does. The tools for running your practice, including your client list, invitations, scheduling, offerings and earnings, are free to use at all times, with or without a subscription.

Accepting a coaching invitation grants you twelve months of free access to mood tracking and journaling. That access renews for a further twelve months whenever you have completed at least one hour of coaching within the preceding twelve months. If you stop working with a coach, or twelve months pass with less than an hour of completed coaching, access reverts to the standard $5 monthly subscription. Only completed sessions count toward the hour; scheduled and cancelled sessions do not.

Free access does not cancel a paid subscription you already have. If you are subscribed when free access begins, cancel it from Settings to stop being billed; we do not cancel it for you, and we do not refund periods already paid.

Coach-sponsored access is funded by the commission Interlude takes on coaching sessions. It is never funded by selling or sharing your data.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, its design, code, content, and branding are owned by Interlude and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of content you create (journal entries, check-ins, tags). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you.

8. Data & Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our <a class="text-indigo-600 hover:text-indigo-800 underline" href="/privacy">Privacidade</a> for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Key points:

  • Your mood and journal data is stored securely and encrypted at rest
  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties
  • You can export or delete your data at any time
  • AI features process your data to generate insights but do not share it externally

9. Health Integrations

When you connect third-party health devices (Fitbit, Oura, Strava, etc.), data flows directly from the provider to Interlude via OAuth. We store health metrics solely to correlate with your mood data.

You may disconnect any integration and delete all associated health data at any time. We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of third-party health data.

10. AI-Powered Features

Interlude uses AI to generate insights, reflections, and pattern analysis. These outputs are informational only and should not be interpreted as medical or psychological advice.

AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or unhelpful. We design our AI to be honest and avoid sycophancy, but it has limitations.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Interlude is not a mental health service. If you are in crisis, please contact a mental health professional or emergency services. In the US, dial 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line).

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Interlude shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through Settings.

Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may export your data before deleting your account.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Interlude operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
